~TEMPEST THE AMAZON~

"I'm an Amazon- I have Violent Needs!!"

Tempest is described in the show as being quicktempered, anti -social and prone to violence-{and that's her good side!}The daughter of Queen Hippolyte and King Darious Tempest bears no small resemblance to a Startrek Klingon and attends Pro Ac reluctantly and under protest. As gorgeous as she's scary, Temp has been trained from birth in the legacy of the Amazon Warrior Women, a militaristic tribe of female psychopaths who spurn all males and live for conquest. As heir to the Amazon Throne and the Sacred Golden Girdle she has very little enthusiasim for math and poetry classes and spends most of her free time practicing the arts of war {at which she excels} and berating her school mates for their cowardly weaknesses. She's tempermental, ruthless, and grimly realistic{"I knew an Amazon who made a mistake once-and paid the price..... She lost her left buttock"}Temp always sits in class fully armed and girded for battle. She has no detectable sense of humour and keeps skulls in her locker.She's deeply suspicious of Cassandra {"I do not Trust You and Your Sorcerer's Ways" } and scares the hell out of Icarus. Hercules, on the other hand, has a low- grade crush on Temp and would like to kick things up a notch but it's hard getting romantic with an Amazon-or at least earning her respect-especially when she keeps flipping you effortlessly over her shoulder. Still- they Do share a few adventures together and Do wind up being pretty close friends.............well.....as close as you can be with someone who puts a nail through their thumb and makes no audible gasp.

Jennifer Jason Leigh

Jennifer was born in Los Angeles, California, on February 5, 1962. {Her father was Vic Morrow, the respected veteran actor who starred in the old Combat series back in the 1960's and whose tragic beheading in a helicopter stunt accident on the set of the Twilight Zone movie shocked Hollywood in 1982.}

Jennifer grew up in the film community and always aimed at being an actress. She worked in her first film at the age of 9 in a nonspeaking role for the 1973 film film Death Of A Stranger . At 14, she attended summer acting workshops given by Lee Strasberg and landed a role in the Disney TV movie Young Runaways, and received her Screen Actors Guild membership in a Baretta episode at 16. Jennifer performed in several TV-movies and dropped out of Pacific Palisades High School six weeks short of graduation for her major role in the film Eyes of a Stranger in 1981. Her first major success came as the female lead in Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982). Like fellow star Tate Donovan Jennifer has carved out an interesting career for herself in Hollywood playing vulnerable victim roles. Jennifer was drawn to waifs, teen abortion patients, pathetic young hookers and tramatized runaways which is amusing to ponder given her marvelous comic abilities in portraying the militantly arrogant Tempest. She is well-known in Hollywood for the exhausting research she does for each of her portrayals, even going down to a weight of 86 lbs for her role as an anorexic teenager in the TV movie Best Little Girl in the World (1981}. The following year she broke tradition with playing down and out characters and starred in Single White Female (1992) which gave her a particularly juicy shot as a psychopathic killer drawn to roommate Bridget Fonda. In the Coen brothers' The Hudsucker Proxy (1994) she affected a vintage Katharine Hepburn accent and attitude, with delightfully humourous results. Alan Rudolph then cast her as celebrated writer and wit Dorothy Parker in Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle (1994). She followed with Dolores Claiborne (1995).
